Just found this thread and i agree with everyone's comments so far!

Overall the show was fantastic, I thoroughly enjoy it and everyone else seemed to also.

The camping was brill, BBQs were awesome and those bargin burger meals from Tesco were incredible

As Andrea mentioned, being able to chill out on the stand and feel relaxed and welcomed makes the day a much more enjoyable experience - as opposed to just being left, which we've all experienced with one other club imparticular.

It's a shame i missed the meal and Sunday night's camping, by the sounds of things, this was great too - I'll definitley try and make it next time.

I certainly agree with the alcahol issue. I think it gives a bad image of our club, to the people who don't know us. Even if it's only the one drink, it's the image that's important in my opinion.

With regards to the fire issue, what about an upside down metal bin lid, proped up with bricks? I've people to use one and it works well.

Can't wait until next year's show season to begin, and I'm sure there'll be plenty of FK-OC meets inbetween.

barrrrpp psssst !

Nice write up Andrew! With regards to the show I think it was firstly a great end to the show season and secondly a fantastic first show for FK-OC. Everyone was really enthusiastic and I think overall the weekend worked out really well.

It was nice to meet the members who I hadn’t met previously and also agree that we work well together as a club by not splitting off into little groups. As Richard said we’re more like a family! Lol.

It was great that everyone felt they could stay on the stand together just chilling out, whereas with other clubs in the past members couldn’t wait to get away from the stand!

I thought our stand was in a good place near the track and we all had plenty of room to move our cars around and leave the stand if we wanted to. And best of all we had a great chillout area behind the cars!

It was also fantastic to have all of the cars in an arc formation with nobody being the centre of attention. I was also particularly chuffed at the fact that this is the first show I’ve ever been to where my car hasn’t been pushed all the way up the back like a contagious mutant midget!!

There are lots of highlights I pointed out on the other thread and also one I forgot to mention! I managed to achieve a 0-60 time and have a cool photo to show for it, wooohoo. Thanks Howies for reminding me!

In terms of organisation: I am quite happy to organise accommodation at next years shows too and I will also send out packs again. The only thing I will say about this is that there has to be a bit of give and take. I am going to have to be much more strict on the deadlines and others are going to have to adhere to them.

I felt this show was very well organised (even though it was very last minute). But as you can imagine it was stressful for myself, Tanya and Simon to get tickets, packs, camping etc. sorted beforehand, with us being up until 2-3am some mornings making arrangements!

I think for the other shows at Silverstone next season I will book accommodation by sending the forms off early to ensure we have enough car parking spaces and tent pitches booked. Its also about being courteous and letting the people putting us up know what’s going on too.

With regards to the alcohol issue, it goes without saying really - I think everyone is aware that we need to be responsible. I think we all know when we have had enough (and if you don’t know, that means you probably have!) … at the point where your vision is blurred enough to think Si is a cake or the campfire is a toilet then you’ve most likely gone too far! Lol.

But on a more serious note, if we are promoting responsible drinking before driving to the event then I think there are a couple of things to bear in mind at the event. From my point of view drinking alcohol during the day at Silverstone doesn’t look very good. Its not really good for our Club image, can earn us a bad reputation and its also a tad risky for anyone leaving the event who might get pulled over. People may not agree with me, but I think if we are exercising caution before the event, maybe we should do so at the actual event too?

In terms of being respectful: Even though we’ve had fun at the campsite for the last two shows, a few of us were talking about a potential issue. Yes, we all love the fires and everyone joins in with cooking stuff but we were talking and have noticed an issue with the ground. A few people have suggested making some sort of a metal tray or container which we can lay on a field to contain our fires and stop them destroying the grass. I think this is an excellent idea and I think Howies has offered to come up with something?

Sorry if I’m coming across harsh at all people, not trying to spoil anyone’s fun. I’ve just finished a sexual health and alcohol display at work, so I’m feeling rather responsible. Lol.

Cheers to everyone for turning up and making it such an enjoyable weekend. Now one last thing “Bwwwwwwaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrrrppppppppppp”

The Captain x
